Weber Grills Want You To Have Fun With It
I was sitting at Easter Sunday dinner and my Uncle asked me to turn on his Weber Grill. I was amazed at how easy it was to turn on and for him to use. That night I went home and saw Weber’s newest ad campaign. Brilliant, absolutely brilliant.
Weber Grills – “Have Fun With It” TV Spot
This is just one of Weber’s TV spots and it’s simply put: fun. It shows a bunch of different people dancing with their Weber grills. It does a great job of establishing characters in such a brief period of time. Normally people might not care about others dancing around with their Weber grills. Weber connects you from the beginning. How do they do that? It’s simple.
They connect you through the grills. The scenes that feature the Weber and an unnamed dancer are scenes from our own lives. There is a representative for grilling at the beach, there is a family grilling together, friends grilling on a Weber in a parking lot. These are scenes that the viewer can relate to.
Another thing I like about the Weber ad, as a foodie, is that it’s easy to imagine what these people are grilling. You can tell that the guys at the game are grilling more simplistic food (burgers and dogs) then the house-mom who might have a mean London Broil cut on her Weber grill or the experimental cook with the smoker, some nice ribs in there probably. I loved it.
It was a great way for the folks of Weber to connect the consumer with their product. So often are grills (including Weber’s) afterthoughts to a celebration, but it’s like Will Smith says, “the smell from a grill can spark up nostalgia.” Great ad campaign by Weber. You can find the rest of the videos at Weber’s Youtube page.
Weber’s “Have Fun With It” Song
So often is music a HUGE part of advertisements. Think about all the songs from ads that you can remember. Did anyone know who Fiest was before the Apple commercial? Weber uses a song in this ad campaign that is incredibly catchy and very “dancy”.
Weber used the song “You Light Me Up” by Open Sky. After so many comments from viewers and consumers the gang at Weber decided to release the song for free download. You can find it here. Personally this is a great thing for Weber.
Weber could be launching a very good precedent for consumers. Imagine if every retailer put out the songs they use? Would bands be more willing to supply their music for ads? Would retailers be willing to do this? It is certainly interesting to think about. Congrats to Weber for taking advantage of their music.
Weber Grills Web Site
On the Weber web site you can see fans from all around the US featured. The consumers take a picture of them with their Weber grills and normally some awesome looking food. Weber rewards their brand loyalty with a spot on the website. This is an awesome idea, but let’s take it one step further.
Why not have people submit their own dancing videos? Use the funniest, best, most clever videos and make a new ad campaign for the mid-summer. It would have the media world in a blitz, maybe get a few more eyes on the brand. It sounds like a very good idea to this writer.
Make sure you guys keep reading Social Medianaires for more coverage if Weber does anything else with this. Also make sure to get your Weber grills ready for summer!
